The crankshaft is a core component of an automobile engine, yet it is heavy, irregularly shaped, reflective, and often stacked or overlapping in supply bins. Manual tending of such parts is slow, labor-intensive, and poses safety risks for operators. The customer required an automated 3D vision solution capable of handling large AGV-delivered bins, reliably detecting part presence and orientation, delivering rapid single-shot recognition and high pick accuracy—all while handling reflective plastic film and multiple crankshaft types.
