3D Vision-Guided Piece Picking

Customer Demand

This customer is a fast-moving consumer goods company. In its warehouse, thousands of SKUs in the inventory and numerous order intakes need to be processed daily. Traditional goods sorting is low-efficient and error-prone. The customer decided to improve the delivery efficiency by deploying Mech-Mind's AI+3D vision-guided robots.

Mech-Mind AI + 3D Vision Solution

Mech-Eye PRO M-GL industrial 3D camera captures 3D images of overlapping groceries. The 3D vision system guides the robot to pick up the goods one by one from bins and place them on the scanning table to check the product specifications and order information. Then, the two-axis truss mechanical arm puts the goods on the corresponding shelf.

Advantages

  1. Mech-Mind 3D vision system can handle various goods, including boxes, bags, bottles, transparent packaging, and goods of small sizes and irregular shapes;

  2. Model-free sorting enables quick recognition of new SKUs, making it easy to deploy;

  3. The advanced 3D vision system can identify randomly-piled goods;

  4. Angle-adjustable end effector can pick parts in all positions, including parts close to a bin wall; The picking success rate is up to 100% with the bin vibration system;

  5. Mech-Mind 3D vision system works with logistics equipment and systems like WMS, code scanners, and Pick-to-Light systems (PTL).

Outcomes

  • Mech-Mind AI +3D vision solution can handle various complicated scenes with markedly improved stability.

  • A single workstation can process over 1200 pieces of goods.
